I will be writing extensively on the theme of temptation in the upcoming weeks of Lent and beyond. Temptation is such a big force in our lives. And the effort it takes to resist it is equally powerful.

Last Sunday morning, I was at the pool, sunny myself and enjoying my last day of vacation. All the time that I was at the pool, sunning myself, I had great temptations. What made it crazy was if I were here, I would have been celebrating mass. You see, I was hoping Cheryl Tiegs would come to the pool that morning. Right then I heard the gate open; I turned to see who was coming in, a man wearing a US Navy hat and all hunched over walking with a cane because he dragged his left leg. He sat to my right.
