In his epic fantasy novel Scribe, the main character traded his sword for a quill. Then he became the guardian of a relic that shouldn’t exist. But that wouldn’t stop the Darkness from destroying the Crescent Lands to obtain it.

Author Jennifer DiVita pens Not Your Shoe Size, a
novel that tells the story of two opposite characters Julia and Colette who age from 10 to 100.
“It’s a coming of age story told through vignettes,” DiVita said. “As women we don’t have to play by standards of an ageist society. Cosmetics is a multi-billion dollar industry.”

View from my sunroom
Writing a new chapter in my life as I take on new responsibilities in 2024. Yoga, treadmill, and meditation help me stay focused and move forward. And of course friends, most of them are far away, some live on the continent, others in Europe, and I have a friend in Adelaide, Australia. But, just the thought that they exist helps.
After the first major snowstorm of the season, we have received a total of 21 inches as of Sunday morning at 9:20 a.m. The lake snow effect has kicked in and we’re getting more snow, as Mom and I get ready for a trip to Florida. It is also my annual writing retreat.

When bombardier Micah Lund dies on a mission over Hiroshima, his spirit remains trapped in the land of his enemies. Dazed, he follows Kiyomi Oshiro, a war widow struggling to care for her young daughter, Ai.

Food is scarce, work at the factory is brutal, and her in-laws treat her like a servant. Watching Kiyomi and Ai together, Micah reconsiders his intolerance for the people he’d called the enemy. As his concern for the mother and daughter grows, so does his guilt for his part in their suffering. Micah finds a new reality when Kiyomi and Ai dream—one which allows him to interact with them. While his feelings for Kiyomi deepen, imminent destruction looms. Hiroshima is about to be bombed, and Micah must warn Kiyomi and her daughter.

Happy New Year 2024

Pictured with GR musician Ray Townsend and Emma Chavent of France at The Masquerade New Year’s Eve Ball at the Water Tower Grill and Smokehouse.
Ray was really awesome; he played both the guitar and saxophone. He also showed us how to do the Moonwalk.
The food was exquisite so was the company. People were dressed up, and dancing.
It was my best New Year’s Eve ever.

Past NaNo Day 7, nice December day
I logged in a total of 4,448 words since Dec.1 taking the new novel to the finish line. With the NaNoWriMo pressure off, I thought the writing would get easier.
On the contrary I got more distracted by different projects that have nothing to do with my book. “Alright, you better watch out or you’re not going to get it done,” I said to myself.
Now, again I am facing the ominous daily word count number of 1,550 to get the novel done by Dec. 20, just in time for Christmas.
Can I do it? I’ve done it before. I am zoning back into the story using the same tools of discipline and visual storytelling tools.
I have to map out the last part of the book using the scene format, and making it fun with lots of visuals, and stickers.
I love stickers and having some kind of a reward system like a box of chocolates, and or a walk outside. Perhaps a phone call to a friend that I’ve been neglecting.
Czech holiday traditions coming soon
I would be remiss if I didn’t mention that I made the magical Czech eggnog with our @Moravian Sons Distillery apple brandy. For more info go to:

I don’t think I‘ve ever tasted anything as good as this holiday concoction.

Author Cassie Veselovsky creates sing-along Bingo Books

Making reading time a bit more musical with Bingo Books.

Author librarian Cassie Veselovsky makes reading time a bit more musical in her sing-along books for the five-year-olds and under crowd, and their grown-ups.
“I’ve taken my old rhymes and converted them into books,” she said in the podcast interview.
A librarian of 40 years, Veselovsky also loves pairing books with readers to see the joy in kids’ eyes when they say, “I loved the book.”
In her sing-along books, Veselovsky matches up the rhymes with online purchased illustrations.
“Rhyming books are not easy,” she said, “so they don’t sound silly.”
She would like to disperse a common misconception about her Bingo Books that they are like a bingo game.
“They’re not a game,” she said. “They’re sing-along books with five-letter words.”
Veselovsky will be at Winter Whimsy in Hartford on Dec. 8.
She has attended Reading Rocks in Rockford, hosted by the Rockford branch of the KDL system.
